A Christian prisoner in Cuba was asked to sign a statement containing charges against fellow Christians that would lead to their arrest.
He said: "The chain keeps me from signing this."
The Communist officer protested, "But you are not in chains!"
"I am" said the Christian. "I am bound by the chain of witnesses who throughout the centuries gave their lives for Jesus Christ.
I am a link in this chain.
I will not break it."

Sorry I'm a little tardy getting this out to you this week. I've wanted to wait until the details were firmed up for our Baptism this weekend. It's gonna be an exciting time as Chris, Patricia and Scott are going to tell the world that they want to follow Jesus!
It's gonna be a special time too because it will be in the river. This is something that Scott has requested and we have been trying to find a place to do it. We have been working with the authorities to find a place, and finally the plan has come together.
Being in the river, reminds me of some of our heritage. In 1708, Alexander Mack and seven others gathered on the banks of the Eder River in Schwarzenau, Germany, to begin a new fellowship of believers in Jesus Christ. This group had covenanted together to follow and obey the teachings of the New Testament. It became the Brethren Church, which was the beginnings of our spiritual family.
It reminds me of our heritage back to Jesus too, he was baptized in the Jordan River. At that time, the Holy Spirit showed up and the Father said, "This is my beloved Son, and I am fully pleased with him."
If you are near Columbus, I hope you can make it to this celebration. It will be worth it! Check out the details below...times, map, parking, etc.
The Scioto is neither the Jordan nor the Eder, but its a river that runs through the center of our great city of Columbus. May this baptism be an honor to Jesus and a statement to the entire city of Columbus and the world that these three people want to follow Jesus!
*Maybe you are wondering what the Bible says about Baptism. We have a some bible studies that we have put together which deals with this issue. You can check out the links below (all PDF)

Parking: there are a few metered spots on Long Street where Neil dead ends. There is on the street free parking on Cozzins (near the Belmont Building) which is off Spring. Just know that Spring is a one way going West and Long is a one way going East, so if you go too far it's a LONG way to turn. You can also park in the Arena District parking Garages.

gathering a generation to become
catalysts for Christ within church and culture
DRIVEN is a conference for young adults designed to call and equip a generation to grab onto their God-given purpose and mission. The 19-29 years have been branded the "Lost Decade" time and time again. We know they are not spiritually disengaged, but maybe just disillusioned. DRIVEN is gathering a generation to become catalysts for Christ within church and culture.

DNA is necessary for every living organism to reproduce. The body of Christ, the church, is a living organism. As a living organism it also has a form of DNA that must be intact at every level
