A Christian prisoner in Cuba was asked to sign a statement containing charges against fellow Christians that would lead to their arrest.
He said: "The chain keeps me from signing this."
The Communist officer protested, "But you are not in chains!"
"I am" said the Christian. "I am bound by the chain of witnesses who throughout the centuries gave their lives for Jesus Christ.
I am a link in this chain.
I will not break it."

"Jesus told them, "The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few.
This verse was in our prayer study of the life of Jesus in the INSTITUTE. Many times I have read this passage. I have been impacted by it personally over the last year or so. I finally took the time to look into the original language of this verse and unpacked some important things. I thought I would share them with you here:
Jesus said it twice!
This verse is parallel to the passage in Matthew 9:37-38. But even though it is parallel, Dr. Luke seems to make it clear that this is the second time Jesus said the same thing.* If Jesus thought it was important enough to say twice...we better listen!
Jesus used a strong contrast!
The contrast between the "many crops"/"much harvest" and the "few" workers is a pointed part of the statement. In fact, the word used for "few" here is the same as in Matt 7:14; "But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it."
Jesus used strong language!
The words in the instructions are not wimpy.
That's a power packed instruction from Jesus!
About a year ago, my friend Ed Waken from Valley Life Church in Phoenix told me about Luke 10:2 and especially the "B" part of the verse... Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field."
He told me that he infected me with the Ten2b virus. This is a good virus...not like most. He told me about this passage and challenged me to pray. In fact, he got t-shirts done up to get people praying. The reason for dubbing it a "virus" is the hope that it will spread virally...to everyone it touches. Now you are being exposed to it!!!!
If you'll indulge me in a little practical application for this...
Everyday my cell phone alarm goes off at 10:02am.
Most days I am cruising along and not thinking much about Jesus' desire to see a harvest, and my alarm goes off.
Normally I stop and pray right then and there...maybe a sentence or two. Maybe just recite the verse. Sometimes I'm in the middle of something, and I stop and tell the people around me why my cell phone is going off. Today, I took time an prayed for just about every worker from thequest...and prayed for more!
Just this weekend I helped another house church planter in Eastern Pennsylvania set his alarm to 10:02am so he can start praying Luke 10:2b each day. The virus is spreading....have you caught it?

*The Matt 9:37-38 comment would have been made when Jesus sent out the 12 also in Luke 9:1-2. Again this instruction from Jesus comes up when He sends out the seventy(two) in Luke 10:1-2. It is most likely that Jesus gave this identical instruction at both of these "sendings"--1) of the 12 (Matt 9:36-10:2 /Luke 9:1-2) and 2) of the 70 (or 72) Luke 10:1-2

The Writing for Children Author's Reception
22nd Hours you are needed: 5:00pm -9:00pm (approximately)
Second Avenue Elementary School and St. Joe's Montessori School collaborate their efforts for this week long conference which culminates in an appreciation reception for all the children's story book authors. Again this year, we have been asked to provide 6-8 volunteers who will help at the reception in various ways. So we need your help. We have been faithful in the past to provide the necessary volunteers, so I trust you will consider this opportunity to serve our neighborhood again this year. Please respond to email@example.com

FREE CAR WASH
Saturday, April 23
We are going to do a free car wash at the Urban Gardener (920 N. High St.) as a way to show folks that we want to love and serve them with no strings attached. We'll need your help to suds them up, rinse and dry! Put it on your calendar now!
We'll meet at 10:30 am for a time of prayer and details at Urban Gardener. Here is a map. Thanks to Christie from Urban Gardener and The Wood Companies for allowing us to use their parking lot and water for this event.
We hope to start washing cars about 11am and go until 2:30 pm. We can work in shifts and have people take a break and grab a bite to eat on High Street for their lunch...or they can pack a lunch.
If you are not coming from the neighborhood to help us out...Parking...always tricky in the city. We suggest that people park at the 2nd Ave. Elementary School (Here is a map.) There are only 10 spots at the Urban Gardener lot, so we need to keep them free for car washing and customers, not our cars.
Then our house, which is two houses from the school lot, and on the way to Urban Gardener if someone has to use the restroom, ask directions or anything. My cell is 614-314-6350. We can keep lunches in a fridge or something if there is a special need that way. Here's another map

gathering a generation to become
catalysts for Christ within church and culture
DRIVEN is a conference for young adults designed to call and equip a generation to grab onto their God-given purpose and mission. The 19-29 years have been branded the "Lost Decade" time and time again. We know they are not spiritually disengaged, but maybe just disillusioned. DRIVEN is gathering a generation to become catalysts for Christ within church and culture.

Spontanteous Expansion of the Kingdom of God- by Neil Cole
....The next day we went by and twenty-foot tall palm trees were swaying in the morning breeze where the holes had been the day before. With all the creative imagination of a five-year-old, my daughter shouted out in amazement, “Boy, those trees grow fast!”... http://www.cmaresources.org/articles/spontaneous_expan.asp
