Training leaders to train others.  2 Timothy 2:2

Holistic Training

In His creation God established the laws of reproduction, manifested in the seed, the soil, the sower and the harvest (Mark 4:26-29).  In His parables the Lord used these laws to teach us the principles of spiritual reproduction (Mark 4:13-20).

These laws are applicable in all situations where truth is shared, whether in evangelism, discipleship or training leaders.  The past four SALT Newsletters were devoted to each of these four laws, as they apply to the learning process.

The Four Laws of Learning represent a holistic approach to training:

 The Law of the Seed

Conceptualization

Selection through Preparation

Teaching the Whole Truth

 The Law of the Soil

Contextualization

Implantation through Explanation

Training the Entire Person

The Law of the Sower

Personalization

Germination through Demonstration

Applying a Total Training Process

The Law of the Harvest

Mobilization

Reproduction through Participation

Striving for Complete Results

The Four Laws are an effective teaching tool:

Would you make the following commitment?

Colossians 1:28-29:  “We proclaim him, admonishing and teaching everyone with all wisdom, so that we may present everyone perfect in Christ. To this end I labor, struggling with all his energy, which so powerfully works in me.”

Comments

From Bruce Triplehorn in Belem, Brazil:  “Last week, we had a three day conference on SALT (RETREL).  It went very well.  It was a rewarding week as you could clearly see that those who have been participating in SALT up to this time had internalized the concepts and were bearing fruit.   Those who are not participating went away hungry to start.  People were excited about it the material.  There were some skeptics present that went away with a different outlook.  The most exciting part was the testimonies.  I have never heard so many reports about people coming to the Lord.  It was also very gratifying to hear the people talk so much about worship.  After the clinic, I realized how much people are hungry for good solid Bible training.   There were 40 present.”

Information

During the coming year the SALT Newsletter will come once every quarter.  The April edition will be dedicated to comments concerning the leadership profile:  the innate qualities that we need to be looking for in potential leaders, and the acquired  competencies that need to be a part of Basic Training.  We will be contacting you personally by email to get your feedback.

From February 23 to March 5 meetings will be held with the leadership of the training ministries of the Central African Republic to seek direction for the reorganization of leadership training in that country, in view of the destruction caused by the civil war.  Mike Taylor, Jim Custer and Tom Julien will participate in these discussions.
