why house churches?

strawberry patch vision

thequest family,

Thanks for the hundreds of prayers which went up to Jesus about the meeting Sunday night and the future of thequest.  We did what was scheduled--ate pizza, prayed and shared about what our sense was about what God wants for the future of thequest.

It was good to have some new friends and old friends all at the table praying and conversing together.  God was there...and so were His people! There were some powerful moments of great tears because of the life transformation that has happened in people through thequest.  We all were overjoyed at the ways God has use this bunch of people who have been following Jesus together.

In our time together there was no bolt of lightning or writing on the wall, but it did become apparent that a band of people emerged who want thequest to continue into the future. It also seems as those who are transitioning away from thequest are moving toward communities to grow and serve--either starting or joining other churches.  This up swell is an answer to your prayers.  Thanks so much for praying.

PLEASE DON'T STOP PRAYING!  This humble band of folks needs Jesus through the Spirit to lead them and the endurance to follow what He guides them to do.  Pray for God to stir up the gifts and to call out new ones in the saints.  In two Sundays we'll get together again to pray and seek God about next steps.

I've been musing a lot over the intimate letters Paul wrote to Timothy and to Titus.  His last words penned to Timothy are lasting words.

You have heard me teach things that have been confirmed by many reliable witnesses. Now teach these truths to other trustworthy people who will be able to pass them on to others  2 Timothy 2:2 NLT

Faithfulness or trustworthiness is what Paul was looking for.  Pray for the extension to generations to come of the things Jesus taught...whether as part of the future of thequest or the disciples who go elsewhere.

Press on,

Mike

FINAL MEN'S PRAYER BREAKFAST ON SATURDAY, MAY 17

TRIP TO REDS VS INDIANS GAME FOLLOWING
The final Men's Prayer Breakfast will occur on Saturday, May 17 at 8:30 am at Mike Kinney's house at 5181 Rittenhouse Square North in Columbus. We will meet at our usual time at 8:30 am and have our usual prayer time but also have a time of special prayer for the Jentes' and their move to California. We will have a REAL BREAKFAST at the meeting on the 17th so come prepared to pray and eat!

Also, our original plan was to go to the Cincinnati Reds vs Cleveland Indians Battle of Ohio baseball game after the meeting. Those plans are still on! We will buy tickets at the game but Mike can get some discount coupons through his work if he can have an approximate idea of how many people will be going. So if you think you would like to attend the baseball game after the prayer time, contact Mike Kinney and let him know. You can e-mail him at Michael.Kinney@rsc.state.oh.us or call him at home at 459-1281. The game begins at 3:55 pm on Saturday, May 17 and will end at about 7 pm. We will leave for Cincinnati sometime about 11 or 11:30 and get to Cincy in time to eat some lunch before the game and then go get the tickets and hang around the riverfront and ballpark until game time. We will leave right after the game and be back about 9:30 or 10 pm. Mike will cover the tickets if other people will pick up some of the other things like driving, parking costs, etc. Again, contact Mike for details. If you only want to attend the game and not the prayer breakfast that is fine. You can contact Mike for details. This will be the final meeting of the men's prayer breakfast so it would be good to have as many men attend as possible.
