why house churches?

strawberry patch vision

thequest family,

It was great time on Sunday at our Assembly on Sunday at the Jackson's. We had an eventful day together with Mike & Mindi giving a parting thought, Josh & Kristi sharing about their vision for the future, a couple of baptisms and a trifecta of kids ( & their parents) being dedicated to the Lord.  AWESOME time!  Check out our BLOG for pics of the festivities!

In my parting thought, I shared about something I gleaned from examining the Scripture's view of the ending of Moses' ministry as he handed the baton to Joshua and then the end of Joshua's ministry.  I noticed that there was a striking similarity between both of these transitions.  They each called together an assembly of the people.  Then they each did the same 2 things:

1) Both challenged the people to re-up their covenant with God.  They had the people re-connect, renew their commitment to the Lord.  They didn't want the people to follow human leaders, but the Lord himself.

2) Both challenged the people to stay devoted to the Word of God. In fact, Joshua said this: ""So be very careful to follow everything Moses wrote in the Book of Instruction. Do not deviate from it, turning either to the right or to the left." Joshua 23:6 reminding the people of what the Lord told Joshua early in his leadership:

"Be strong and very courageous. Be careful to obey all the instructions Moses gave you. Do not deviate from them, turning either to the right or to the left. Then you will be successful in everything you do. Study this Book of Instruction continually. Meditate on it day and night so you will be sure to obey everything written in it. Only then will you prosper and succeed in all you do."    Joshua 1:7-8 NLT

In keeping with these two leaders, that was the challenge I gave to our humble crew-- 1) Re-up your commitment to God--it's about Him, not anyone else and 2) Stay true to the Scripture--it's the guidebook for all of life!

It's a joy to leave you saints in the hands of a Joshua--a man of God who is devoted to Him and His Word!

Press on,

Mike

thequest Summer Neighborhood Bible Club a SUCCESS!

Thanks to the partnership with Grace Church in Powell, the Summer Bible Club from last week was a big time success.  Thanks to every adult who helped volunteer their time, and especially to each child who learned more about the Bible and made some connections with people and Jesus.
